    Participation as a non-governmental organization in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

    The International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) participated in the 2026 International Patriotic Pact Organization Forum, held at the United Nations Office at Geneva, as part of its institutional engagement within the ECOSOC framework.

    IFSJ was invited to contribute to the Forum and designated its Secretary-General as official representative, in accordance with its formal authorization procedures.

    The Forum convened international non-governmental organizations and stakeholders to engage in discussions on themes related to national development, international cooperation, and the relationship between development and human rights, within the context of the International Patriotic Pact.

    IFSJ participated in the Forum through the delivery of an official intervention and its institutional presence within the conference framework at the United Nations Office at Geneva.

    Participation in the Forum forms part of IFSJ’s ongoing engagement in multilateral dialogue and international policy discussions within United Nations-related settings.

    Representatives of the International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) attended the Global Fraud Summit 2026 at the Vienna International Centre.

    The summit brought together international law enforcement agencies, government representatives, and institutional stakeholders to address current developments in global fraud, financial crime, and illicit financial flows.

    During the summit, IFSJ engaged with representatives of specialized private-sector entities active in the field of blockchain analysis and crypto-related investigations. These exchanges provided insight into the role of data-driven analytical technologies in supporting law enforcement authorities across multiple jurisdictions, including the tracing of illicit financial flows and the investigation of complex financial crime structures. The interaction highlighted the existence of highly specialized actors operating largely outside public visibility, yet playing a significant role in international enforcement frameworks.

    IFSJ engaged within the conference environment and followed discussions on international cooperation mechanisms, enforcement strategies, and the evolving challenges associated with cross-border financial crime.

    IFSJ’s participation forms part of its ongoing engagement with United Nations processes and its continued presence within the Vienna-based UN system.

    Representatives of the International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) attended the 69th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs at the Vienna International Centre.

    The session brought together government delegations, United Nations bodies, and accredited non-governmental organizations to address current developments in international drug policy. Discussions covered a range of approaches, including enforcement, prevention, and public health perspectives.

    IFSJ engaged within the conference environment and held exchanges with representatives of national authorities and institutional participants. These interactions provided practical insight into policy implementation approaches and the functioning of the UN drug policy framework.

    IFSJ’s participation forms part of its ongoing engagement with United Nations processes and its continued presence within the Vienna-based UN system.

    Participation through the IFSJ Secretary General in his capacity as former Secretary of the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission

    The International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) was present at the constitutive session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (WECO) for the 2026–2031 term, held at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection in Vienna.

    The Secretary General participated in the session following an official invitation issued in recognition of his previous role within the Codex Alimentarius Commission (FAO/WHO). The session brought together national authorities and expert stakeholders in the areas of food standards, consumer protection, and regulatory coordination.

    During the session, a technical contribution was delivered addressing international food standard-setting, Codex-related cooperation, and multilateral coordination in the field of global food systems. Reference was made to the work of IFSJ in relation to international food systems and institutional engagement.

    Participation as a non-governmental organization in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

    The International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) participated in the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), as part of its institutional engagement within the ECOSOC framework.

    The APFSD is an annual, high-level intergovernmental forum serving as the United Nations’ principal regional platform for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific. It brings together governments, United Nations entities, international organizations, and selected stakeholders to assess progress, identify regional priorities, and shape policy dialogue on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Participation is not open and is limited to invited and accredited entities, including a small, restricted number of ECOSOC consultative status accredited NGOs. The Forum also contributes regional perspectives to global processes, including the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF).

    IFSJ was accredited to the Forum through the UN civil society participation system and attended the conference in full as part of its continued participation in multilateral United Nations processes relating to sustainable development, international cooperation and policy dialogue.

    During the Forum, IFSJ also took part in the SDG 6 roundtable discussion entitled “Investments for Water,” which examined policy conditions and financing models for mobilizing public and private investment in water-related infrastructure, with particular attention to least developed countries (LDCs), landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), and small island developing states (SIDS).

    In that context, IFSJ contributed perspectives on governance-related conditions affecting investment confidence, including legal clarity in water rights and long-term policy stability. Reference was also made to the Vienna Danube flood protection system as an example of sustained public investment and risk reduction through long-term infrastructure planning.

    Participation in the Forum formed part of IFSJ’s continued engagement with multilateral processes addressing sustainable development and implementation-related governance questions. The event contributed to the Federation’s institutional presence within United Nations regional frameworks and its ongoing dialogue-oriented approach to the Sustainable Development Goals.

    Representatives of the International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) attended a formal session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) at the United Nations Office at Geneva, one of the United Nations’ most central and institutional human rights forums.

    The Universal Periodic Review is the only global mechanism under which all UN Member States are periodically examined on their human rights obligations and commitments. The session attended by IFSJ concerned the review of São Tomé and Príncipe and took place in the Assembly Hall of the Palais des Nations, alongside government delegations, UN bodies, and accredited organizations.

    For IFSJ, presence at the UPR session was not symbolic, but substantive. Attendance provided first-hand insight into the functioning of a core UN accountability mechanism and into the dynamics through which international scrutiny, diplomatic dialogue, and institutional oversight intersect within the United Nations system.

    Participation in such proceedings reflects IFSJ’s ongoing engagement with high-level UN processes and its commitment to maintaining informed, direct exposure to the mechanisms shaping international governance, justice, and institutional responsibility.

    IFSJ participated in the WAVE Conference in Geneva, a high-level forum hosted at the Graduate Institute examining the growing influence of data, information flows, and digital narratives on public life.

    As part of the official programme, Timothy Mudiayi Bukassa, Head of Global Strategic Communications at IFSJ, was invited to speak as a panelist, contributing a practitioner-oriented perspective on strategic communication, social media dynamics, and the shaping of public discourse in the digital age. The panel brought together academic experts, media professionals, and civil-society voices to discuss credibility, power, and responsibility in contemporary information environments.

    The conference also provided valuable opportunities for exchange with Geneva-based academics, journalists, and institutional stakeholders, strengthening IFSJ’s presence within international policy and communication circles and reinforcing its engagement on issues of information integrity and public trust.

    The International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) facilitated and participated in a high-level meeting with representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna, Austria.

    The meeting was initiated and coordinated through IFSJ leadership, bringing together international stakeholders to explore potential areas of cooperation in the context of sustainable development, innovation, and institutional collaboration, including areas such as food systems and related fields.

    Discussions focused on identifying opportunities for engagement within UN-related frameworks, including participation in international conferences, institutional dialogue formats, and potential collaboration pathways between academic, private sector, and multilateral actors.

    The meeting formed part of IFSJ’s broader strategy to position itself as a facilitator between international institutions and external partners, supporting access, dialogue, and cooperation across sectors.

    Representatives of the International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) attended the official diplomatic reception held on the occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna.

    The reception brought together ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, government representatives, and invited institutional guests in a formal diplomatic setting. During the event, IFSJ representatives had the opportunity to greet H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, and to mark the occasion with a brief exchange and a commemorative photograph.

    In addition, IFSJ representatives, including the Secretary-General, engaged in extended informal conversation with H.E. Ms. Qi Mei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Austria. The exchange took place during the reception and continued over the course of the event. This interaction was particularly relevant in light of IFSJ’s ongoing engagement with several Chinese non-governmental organizations holding consultative status and its developing cooperation with partners from the region.

    Participation in such diplomatic receptions forms part of IFSJ’s broader approach to maintaining direct institutional presence and dialogue within diplomatic and multilateral environments.

    The International Federation for Sustainability and Justice (IFSJ) participated in the Second World Summit for Social Development, convened by the United Nations, as part of its institutional engagement within the ECOSOC framework.

    IFSJ was officially accredited to the Summit through the UN civil society participation system and took part in the Civil Society Forum associated with the event. In accordance with established UN procedures for NGOs in consultative status, the Federation registered for available speaking slots and submitted registrations for side events.

    Participation in the Summit formed part of IFSJ’s continued engagement with multilateral processes addressing social development and the role of civil society within international policy discussions. The event contributed to the Federation’s long-term institutional presence in UN-convened forums and its dialogue-oriented approach to global social development issues.
